STUDIO CITY, Calif. (March 5, 2012) – Excitement continues to build for the 6th Annual Stars & Strikes Celebrity Bowling and Poker Tournament to benefit A Place Called Home (APCH), on March 14th at PINZ Bowling & Entertainment Center from 7pm – 11pm.

“Stars & Strikes is a fun, high-energy, celebrity-filled evening to support inner-city youth through programs in education, the arts, nutrition, fitness and college preparation at A Place Called Home. Over the past five years, proceeds from the event have raised over $500,000.00 and gone on to support APCH’s Bridge to the Future program, providing recreation, field trips, academic tutoring, college preparation and college tours for hundreds of South Central teens, many of whom have gone on to break negative cycles and be the first in their families to attend college.”  said Jonathan Zeichner, APCH Executive Director.

Additionally, Coldplay recently performed a benefit concert to benefit APCH, and recently Ryan Tedder (Singer OneRepublic/Producer for Adele, Beyoncé & more), generously donated much needed funding to save the APCH recording studio during the recent economic downturn.”

Stars & Strikes is hosted by the APCH Leadership Council, which is made up of young professionals who volunteer their time and bring resources to the nonprofit organization.  The Leadership Council supports numerous APCH programs for teens, including Teen Nights, Listening Lounge, Music Program/Band events, and The Cinderella and Prince Charming Project, as well as the annual A Place Called Home for the Holidays Toy, Book and Clothing Drive.  Christine Hansen and Thirty-Three Productions, Inc. brings the Stars & Strikes event Dream to Reality.

For those who cannot attend, but want to further help the efforts of APCH, a “text-to-pledge” campaign will help send 60 kids to college.  Supporters can donate $10 to A Place Called Home, by texting GIVE 9796 to 80088.

The 6th Annual Stars & Strikes features 34 lanes of bowling action, an exciting, No-Limit All-In Texas Hold’em professional-level poker tournament featuring the gorgeous “Dealer Dolls” alongside bountiful and delicious fresh food, courtesy of Whole Foods Market; tasty drinks; raffles for amazing prizes; notable DJs spinning; the excitement of the red carpet and more.
